Hector shaw

Hector Shaw grew up immersed in traditional Scottish music, but the world his songs map is quieter and more interior than the one he was raised in.  With a keen eye for the unspoken, his songs are charged with pastoral longing and nameless desire, floating above finger-picked guitars and folk-tinged arrangements. Hector’s songs echo the same kind of storytelling as Sufjan Stevens, Phoebe Bridgers and Laura Marling.

Originally from Glasgow and now based in Edinburgh, Hector quickly became part of the city’s music scene. He released his debut EP Gravity in 2021 which achieved radio play on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Introducing, as well as features in publications like the National, The Scottish Sun and Folk Radio UK. His sophomore EP Fawns earned him a nomination for Best Acoustic at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.

He has toured both the UK and Europe (France, Germany, Belgium and Amsterdam) supporting the likes of Katie Gregson-Macleod, as well as other Scottish indie heavyweights like Jacob Alon and Lizzie Reid. He has played Cambridge Folk Festival, Celtic Connections and Belladrum's Tartan Heart.
